52 Things I Learned this Year

Updated: Jan 2, 2020

Every year we all grow & in many different ways. It is important to celebrate those accomplishments & growths, no matter how seemingly small. I have written out 52 things I’ve learned and grown from over the past year, one for every week. I hope you enjoy! I encourage you all to write out the ways you’ve grown through 2019, I’m sure you’ll be surprised.

1. Be patient and trust that who you are is enough.

2. Lipstick is a staple in every outfit, so it is okay to have 30 different shades.

3. How you feel the first week of school is very telling as to how you will feel for the rest of the semester.

4. Travel without hesitation.

5. Finding love doesn't always mean finding a significant other, sometimes it means finding your people, or even loving yourself.

6. New York Fashion Week is my Super Bowl, & I am determined that my clothes will walk on that runway.

7. A Galentines date is way more fun than Valentine's Date.

8. 21 was as fabulous as I hoped it would be, & birthdays are starting to look up.

9. Stop expecting so much of people, but more than that, stop accepting people expecting so much from you.

10. Don't be afraid to buy your own flowers!

11. Father-Daughter trips are a must.

12. Little brothers may annoy you, but they absolutely make your world go round.

13. Your appearance is not everything, but your attitude about your appearance is.

14. Work unapologetically hard on the things you are passionate about.

15. Eat the popsicle or the chocolate or whatever it may be, stop worrying so much!

16. Be silly & spontaneous, especially in photos! Be real, & be you.

17. Take a shopping day- you deserve it! But maybe try not to go too crazy...

18. The grade isn't always the point, sometimes its about academic growth & proving you can do it.

19. When you're at Disney, go all out. Who cares how old you are!

20. Change your hair! Be crazy while you can!

21. Enjoy the process & accept that everything happens for a reason & in its due time.

22. Absolutely live it up in New York.

23. Don't be scared to dance with your dad & look like goofballs.

24. Walking around a new place is soothing for the soul.

25. Sometimes letting go of toxic people hurts, & it's okay to feel upset about it.

26. Speaking your truth is often the best thing you can do for yourself.

27. Sometimes the best thing you can give to someone is patience.

28. Enjoy baby hugs & slobbery kisses while you can, they are destined to grow up one day. (Gigi)

29. Rekindle old connections with friends.

30. It is absolutely okay to walk away from something you love because things have changed over time.

31. People will always disappoint you to some degree, realize that you have to get back up & move on.

32. Great things come & go, but the memories will always last a lifetime.

33. Make the most of every moment you get to spend with your siblings. (Love You Walt)

38. Grief is not anything anyone can really explain. We all feel it differently.

39. Sometimes the people who are supposed to support you & help you the most are the people who unintentionally hurt you.

40. Be thankful for the friends in your life who are willing to take care of you.

41. Sometimes you need space, even from the people you love most. There’s nothing wrong with alone time!

42. Make a good effort to be there for the people you love, it's worth it.

43. Don't be scared to be adventurous!

44. You can't fight to keep people in your life if they don't want to be there anymore.

45. Make a point to do the things that are important to your friends.

46. Be happy with your friends in new relationships, even if you haven't found your person yet.

47. Celebrate your accomplishments, & share them with your family and friends!

48. Be thankful for the year you've had.

49. Don't rely on people to help you through finals, everyone is having mental breakdowns of their own. Sometimes you have to cry it out & move on.

50. Take as many pictures as you want, make all the memories you can, & never take a second for granted.

51. Give the gift of being present.

52. Live boldly & passionately!

In 2019 I learned to love myself better & I grew closer to the person I am meant to be. In 2020 I plan to continue to grow as a person & love & take care of myself. 2020 will be my year to live boldly & to live life passionately! Bring on the New Year!

So, here's to always remembering to keep one foot in front of the other, & your heels as high as your standards...xoxo Suzanna Rita
