The Fashion of it All

Today was supposed to be my senior fashion show. I had been looking forward to it all year, but unfortunately, because of COVID-19, it got canceled. To commemorate today I decided I would share all of the designs I created while I was at Auburn.

If you want to look more into my designs please go check them out at:

Freshman Year

Freshman year was when we learned the building blocks for our fashion careers. We focused on learning the names of styles of clothing and other basics. We also learned different sewing techniques and how to use all the different machines in the sewing lab, here are some of my sample pieces.

Sophomore Year

Sophomore year was when we were finally able to start designing our own things. We got small doses Sophomore year, but it was enough to continue to get me excited.

In the first semester of Sophomore year, we learned how to properly do illustration, and the second was our first design class where we learned how to work with patterns, we also learned how to do illustrations on the computer.

Junior Year

Junior year was my favorite year in my design degree, it allowed me to truly hone in on the skills that I had learned the first two years at Auburn. We re-worked some of our illustrations both on the computer and drawn illustrations. We also learned how to work with more fabrics and learned how to further pattern-make by draping. These were some of my favorite projects that I worked on. Most of my classmates and I were also able to showcase our capstone collection in our junior year because of the way our degree was sequenced.

Senior Year

Senior year I didn't have any design classes so any designs I chose to do I worked on my own time. I enjoyed getting to work on these small projects but behind the scenes, I was also working on a senior collection to showcase in this year's fashion show. Even though the fashion show is canceled I will still finish my collection and I look forward to sharing it with all of you. Until then, I hope you ejoyed seeing all my designs from the past four years.

So, here's to always remembering to keep one foot in front of the other, and your heels as high as your standards...xoxo Suzanna Rita
