All around the world in the most random corners any person can find a piece of my heart and a key to who I am. Traveling is the one thing that has been given to me and can never be taken away. I have memories and knowledge beyond my wildest dreams because of that. I was not made to sit idle but instead to be a wanderer.
I always say I find myself by getting lost. So often we lose sight of the most extraordinary things happening right in front of us because we don't think they are interesting or big enough.
I love the city and the country as equals as they both give me opportunities to grow. Wherever I find myself I also lose a piece of my heart. I leave it in the hopes of returning one day and not feeling quite so lost.
When I travel I not only leave a piece of myself, I take something as well. I don't mean take a rock from a national park (that's definitely not allowed), or buy a souvenir I mean learn a lesson. Everywhere that you go and every person that you meet has something they can give you in the same way that you have something unique to give them. Learn about another culture, learn random facts about where you are traveling, learn a new language or way of communication if you're really trying to overachieve. Whatever you do learn. Traveling is giving, taking and learning; don't forget that and use it to your advantage.
Here are some of my rules for traveling:
Be vigilant and aware of your surroundings. ALWAYS.
Do your research and find out what all will be going on in the area.
Plan what you are going to do every day even if you have to switch the days around have a general idea.
Plan your outfits (plan your days first so you can dress accordingly). Always take a good jacket and a rain jacket.
Overpacking never killed anyone-so live a little.
Travel like a child, in awe of everything and fearlessly. (Please don't throw a tantrum on a plane or kick the person in front of you)
Remember to be in awe of HIS creation.
"Wherever you set foot, you will be on land I have given you" ~Joshua 1:3
