My Sweet Second Week in NYC

This wild week was a little bit shorter than last week. I went home this weekend for a good ole fam dam wedding.

This week was Hopie’s first week of internship so we walked together to work, and got coffee. We plan to try different coffee shops around the city, so stay tuned for our reviews.

Stop #1: Birch Coffee

Hopie gives it a big thumbs up, a little bitter for my taste. {I JUST started drinking coffee}

We also get lunch every day, here are our suggestions:

-Cafe 28

-Etc.

-The Corner Cafe

This week at my internship the designer I work under, Amber was headed to

London for the Ben Sherman show. Ben Sherman is one of the brands under Babyfair. Monday and Tuesday we prepped to make sure everything was perfect for her to go to the show.

A few of the other brands under Babyfair include Disney baby, Penelope Mack, Penny M, mick Mack, Picapino, and Ben Sherman. I work with Picapino, Ben Sherman, and Mick Mack the most.

At the beginning of the week I got the showroom ready for buyers at the beginning of the week. I did so by making sure all copies were printed and hanging all the sample garments arranged in presentation order. I made sure they were pressed and didn’t have any loose strings.

Another thing that took up the majority of my week was what’s called POM. This stands for points of measure. For POM you measure each part of the garment to make sure the garment is made correctly and then try it on one of the fit mannequins to make sure it fits properly. You’d be shocked how off some of the ones we go this week we’re.

A few smaller things I did this week:

-Cutting fabric swatches and labeling them

-Changing the baby mannequins diapers

-Researching denim dresses and designing my own

For fun Hopie and I went to see rocket man and shopped around the mall right behind our dorm building. Wednesday was also Kate Spade’s one year so I of course had to pay tribute and go to a store-don’t worry daddy didn’t buy anything this time. Friday was also national donut day so we got donuts!! {plus I broke my favorite shoes Friday so I needed the pick me up}

So, here's to always remembering to keep one foot in front of the other, and your heels as high as your standards...xoxo Suzanna Rita
