Flying Tips and Tricks

Here are my travel necessities and hacks that I always use to travel and they certainly haven't failed me yet. If you want anything you see, click on the photo and you will be sent directly to the link.

Pack a steamer

This mini Joy steamer on the go it my favorite! I use it when I'm at home and on trips. A straighter works great in a pinch!

Have a Plan with you Toiletries

I always keep my toiletries packed, then when I get back form a trip I refill them and make sure I'm ready to go for the next trip. Here is my favorite toiletries set!

Use plastic bags for Toiletries

When packing your toiletries there is always a chance your shampoo or anything else might explode and ruin all your clothes. My grandma taught me that you can use a cut up ziplock baggie or plastic grocery bag, between the bottle and the screw cap to make sure even if it doesn't leak.

Bring a Blanket or Pillow

This travel blanket/pillow is the best thing ever! It clips onto your suitcase and is perfect size! It also comes in so many colors!

Take a Portable Charger

Ever gone to the Airport and not been able to find an outlet, by keeping a portable charger on hand you don't have to worry about!

Pack a Jean Jacket

Always take a jean jacket-it is a comfortable and versatile staple. American Eagle's jean jackets are my favorite. I've had mine for 8 years and its still in perfect condition.

Keep a General Packing List

I always keep a general packing list on my phone so I make sure I don't leave anything important. Feel free to steal any of my packing list needs,

Make Sure your Bag is Recognizable

When you are flying it is easy to mix up your bag and another passengers bag. If you make sure your bag has something easily identifiable you will never have the issue of someone accidentally taking your luggage. When we were little we used to put a bunch of colorful ribbons on handles, now I just travel with my pink suitcases.

Make Sure to Charge all your Electronics

I always charge anything I might possibly need the night before just in case I can't get to an outlet or I get straight on the plane and can't charge anything before the flight.

Headphones are a Must

Bonus Points if they are noise canceling. Sometimes you get sat next to a chatty passenger or behind a screaming baby. While theres nothing wrong with either, sometimes you just need the sleep or the time to think. I had beats, but AirPods pros go above and beyond. Just for fun I figured I'd share my favorite case.

Aesthetic Pill Containers

If you are like me you have a million allergy pills, vitamins and medicines you have to take daily. The worst thing is having to cram all ht different bottles into your suitcase this pill container is perfect. It's sleek and cute and you can have one to travel and one to keep in your purse or backpack with things like Benadryl, Advil , Tylenol or anything that suits you.

Wireless Curling Iron

I think it is always important to look your best, even when you're at the airport. I got this cordless curler and it is perfectly pocket sized and works great! If you have very thick or long hair it may need to be recharged more often.

Here are just a few extras to make sure your trip goes as smooth as possible:

  • If you're parking at the airport: take a picture of the floor and row number marker -- it has saved me more than once flying into ATL a week later

  • Take some cash, just in case of emergencies--my dad taught me this trick

  • Download shows you want to watch before you get to the airport, if you wait till you get to the airport wifi might be be spotty becase everyone is trying to do the same thing

  • Make sure to pull anything you'll need during the flight out of your overhead carryon before you even board; I.e. laptops, books, blankets, etc. You don't want to be that annoying passenger trying to get things out of the over head bin in the middle of the flight

  • Diaper Bags make excellent travel purses--weird right? Except my Kate Spade one has hook straps that are meant for a stroller but work perfectly for a suitcase handle

So, here's to always remembering to keep one foot in front of the other, and your heels as high as your standards...xoxo Suzanna Rita
