18 years ago a little girl with two big pink bows in her hair walked into a hospital alone and walked out knowing she had a best friend for life. Today my baby brother turns 18. How is my baby brother who I feel the need project so old?
Walt, being your big sister for the past 18 years has been the absolute pleasure of a life time and to honor that I want to tell you the 18 best things about having a little brother, more specifically the best things about you, Walter.
Your leadership and maturity on and off the playing field.
Your infectious laughter ... especially after you tell a terrible joke. (Most famously: “what did one lawyer say to the other lawyer?” “were both lawyers!!”)
I have always been impressed by how much you care about your friends, and who much your try to protect them.
Your incredible ability to forgive.
You always make sure I know I am loved.
I love when you ask for advice, and I love when you give me advice even more. At 18 years old you are wise beyond your years.
I am constantly impressed by your strength.
Your competitive nature never ceases to amaze me.
You always have my back no mater what.
Your IOU notes for gifts are precious.
Your determination and ability to keep moving ahead even when things seem tough.
The way you teach me all the new lingo, songs and anything else cool because I'm old.
I love that you're not only willing to take annoying pictures of me but you're willing to take all kinds go annoying pictures with me.
We accept each other's weirdness.
You make awkward family trip and dinners bearable and we usually end up laughing across the table at what no one else understands.
I love that you listen to me and trust me, even when I told you to stick raisins up your nose as kids in the middle of a department store...sorry about that.
You made my childhood memories as amazing as possible. Thanks for playing dress up with me.
Most importantly I love that you're my brother.
Always remember how loved you truly are andI hope you had the most wonderful birthday!
