Time Management

Time management is easily one of the most import life skills a person can have. Why is time management so important? Think about it, we have so many things to get done in a day but we never seem to have time to do it. We cannot change time, go backward or forwards it just is what it is and all we can do is find how to use it most effectively.

The biggest thing I see people wasting time on is toxic people and mindless activities. So step one to making better use of your time...STOP wasting it! Wasting your time can also include overexerting yourself. If you don't have enough energy to do the things you actually want to do then there is a problem. My biggest problem used to be having too many things on my plate. I had classes, sports, 15 different clubs for no reason, jobs, and a social life on top of that.

My biggest suggestion to anyone struggling to find time to do things they want to do is to sit down and make a list of priorities. Set a reasonable number of things you can get done in a week and anything that isn't within that number then don't worry about it.

Personally, I have a calendar with everything already scheduled for the whole month (I actually have 4, but that's because I am too much of a control freak). I then have a weekly to-do list and a daily to-do list with 30 minute segments of my day planned out. Granted, the majority of my day is planned around my classes and work schedule but I still need to plan anything else I'm doing. Something really important when planning your day is extra work or productivity time because thing happen and they sometimes take longer than initially expected.

So, can you still end up working all-nighters? Yes. This week I worked 31 hours in addition to my 19 hours of class, but because I scheduled everything out I got everything done and on time. Did I love having to stay up to work on it? No, but sometimes it's what needs to be done. For the record, I definitely overdid it this week, but I didn't realize until halfway through the week how many shifts I had actually taken. You have to align your priorities with your time management, this week my priority just happened to be making money.

Lastly, guess what if your time isn't managed absolutely perfectly you have tomorrow to work on it and get it done. At the end of the day, don't forget to take care of yourself!

Sending love, patience, and {Suzey} sunshine your way..xoxo
