Its been a hot minute since I first left for Fashion Week and so excited to tell you all about it!! It has taken me a while because life gets a little crazy around here every once in a while.
I had an absolute blast from walking around the city to going to shows and making connections it was truly a once in a lifetime experience. I’ll tell you all about what I saw and the outfits I wore to experience it all, by clicking on the images you can find similar pieces in my outfit.
Travel Day:
I’m sure none of you will be shocked to know I slept 2 of 36 hours leading up to the day I left for New York. That was partially poor packing planning on my end and also when I get really excited or nervous I can never sleep.
The outfit I wore to the airport was perfect. As shocking as it may seem I chose comfort over fashion this time around, only in the fact that I thought my feet would need a break from heels. I wore black leggings, a black turtle neck, and a Black and Tan poncho style jacket. My favorite part of the outfit was the adorable tan loafers from target-so comfortable and chic! Of course, no outfit is complete without a bag, for this momentous event I pulled out my light-up New York Skyline Kate Spade.
The day I left I took an exam then drove to Atlanta and flew to New York. I thought I would be able to stay up, but I absolutely knocked out so I was sure to be ready for day 1 of fashion week.
Day 1 :
New Jersey and Show 1
First stop, New Jersey to see my favorite mommy-daughter duo. I went across the way to New Jersey to see Clancy and Gigi-whom most of you know as my design inspirations. Friday was also the day of the Kate Spade fashion show, naturally, I had to take a picture with my newest and oldest Kate Spades. My very first Kate Spade is the sweet little pink stripe one Gigi is holding. The I was 8 years old my cousin Clancy went to New York to study fashion, and she bought me that little Kate Spade. That little purse started my infatuation with my favorite designer, 13 years later here I am trying to get an internship with the company that has brought me so much joy through the years.
This was also the first day of shows, sitting in the second row all I could think was this could be me one day. A true Suzanna Rita moment was when the first designer walked out after his collection I cried. Not for any bad reason simply because I knew how much work had gone into his collection and I could see the relief in his face as the audience clapped and cheered for him as he created what loved.
I saw 5 shows on the first night: Richardo Seco, Buring Guitars, Grayling Purnell, Sweet Talk Swim, and Kentaro Kameyama.

Day 2 :
Second Day of Shows
The second day was by far the business day because it was a day completely filled with shows. I started off the day in New Jersey eating breakfast bagels with Gigi. Then Caroline and I went to Times Square for a little bit and took pictures. We then went to shows in the morning, broke for dinner and went back to watch shows until about 1 am.
The shows the second day mainly consisted of going to shows, I loved the second day of shows the most. I loved the second day because there were several kids wears designs on the runway. I even got to talk to one of the children models and her mom after the show. I also got to talk to a woman who works for Kate Spade!! That was one of the best moment of fashion week for me.
The shows I saw the second day were: Wonderland Childrenswear, KK Swimwear, Elena Collection, House of Byfield, Emma Atlman Apparel, Willfredo Gerardo, Fernando Alberto Atelier, Dair Designs by Odiar Pereira, and Charles and Ron.

Day 3 :
Met Steps and Sight-Seeing (& Frozen Sing Along)
The first thing we did when we woke up on the last fashion week morning was going to the Met Steps. We had to have our Serena and Blair moment on the Met Steps. After that we walked over to Central Park, unfortunately, it was way too cold to walk around New York Much more than that.
After we finished at the Met Steps and Central Park we went to one of the biggest rooftop restaurants in New York, it is called 203 5th rooftop. It was beautiful to see the views of the city, they even have cute outdoor igloos you can eat in so you don't get cold. Caroline and I then went to the final brunch for the show. After we finished the brunch Caroline went home, my dad arrived, and I went to go see Frozen Sing Along with Gigi. Let me tell you frozen is not my favorite Dinsey movie, but I would watch it and sing along with it 1000 times if I could do it with her. Especially if she is dressed as baby Anna - you can't tell me she doesn't look exactly like her!! My dad and I met up and went to the last few shows. We took pictures in front of the step and repeat and my dad got to see a huge part of my world. My dad also took me out to Beauty and Essex and if you have the chance to go I would.
Designers Day 3 were: Made in Italy Presentation, Tensione In, 120% Collection, Da by Daniel, Hellen Castilla New York, Mister Triple X.

Day 4 :
Mood and the Lights
My fourth day in New York was a designer's dream come true. My dad and I woke up and went to MOOD, and spent four hours there. For those of you who don't know what MOOD is it is one of the biggest fabric stores in the country. It is absolutely beautiful, there were 3 different levels of fabric and trims and anything a designer could possibly imagine. I bought all my fabrics for my fashion show in April. The best part was when my dad and I were checking out there were huge monitors playing shows from fashion week, and they were playing shows from the venue I had been all weekend. My dad and I went to the Flatiron building and then also to Brooklyn to visit my friend Janice.
Day 5 :
Snow in Central Park
My last day in New York it snowed!! I don't think I have ever seen something so beautiful as a snowy New York, especially in Central Park. We started by going to Frances Valentine and Kate Spade and then walked a few blocks to Central Park so I could play in the snow. Frances Valentine is the second line Kate Spade created and you can truly feel her spirit in every piece of that store. We went to the Kate Spade flagship store and I was shown around the VIP area and it was like a dream come true.
The worst part about New York was, as always, leaving. I love traveling, but leaving is the absolute worst part. I tried to travel comfortably once again. Trust me after all those heels my poor feet needed it. My suitcase also got broken into while on the way back from New York-thankfully nothing was stolen!
New York was a dream and I can't wait to be back very soon!
The best part of New York Fashion Week was getting to spend it with people that I love!
